1a.Smith, M (2015) Doubling Energy & Resource Productivity by 2030 - Transitioning to a Low Carbon Future through Sustainable Energy and Resource Management (Game Changing Report)
Lend Lease is a global construction company which has decided to embrace sustainability as a competitive strategy. The case explores the various reasons behind the firm's decision, which includes the construction of its award winning headquarters in Sydney, designed specifically around environmental and human sustainability. It is useful for teaching corporate strategy with a specific example of how energy efficiency can be incorporated into corporate strategy, project planning phases and in a business' operations.
This case was written by Renato J. Orsato, Senior Research Fellow at INSEAD Business in Society (IBiS), INSEAD Fontainebleau, France; Robert Perey, Andrea North-Samardzic, and Professor Dexter Dunphy of the University of Technology, Sydney (UTS) also contributed.
The case is designed to be used as a basis for class discussion rather than to illustrate either effective or ineffective handling of an administrative situation.
